I’m joinin’ in with Kimberly of Caffeinated Reviewer on Sundays to talk about anything new, to share what books have been read &/or have come in, and a heads up on what’s coming up next.
I’m also linking up with It’s Monday! What are you reading? hosted by Kathryn of The Book Date later on today. Kathryn took over this weekly, Monday meme from Shelia of Book Journey who had taken it over from J Kayne Book Blog. This meme is not just about adult books either. If you read picture and chapter books, juvenile fiction, or even YA, they count as well. Jen Vincent of Teach Mentor Texts and Kellee of Unleashing Readers give this Monday, book post link up a kid-focus.

OMGoodness, where did the week go? I meant to blog this week but I got so busy! Workouts, carpool, Back-to-School Night, trying out new Instant Pot recipes, my birthday, Craft Night, JV tournament, and then shopping for extra tennis gear + getting half a card done was my week (deets to come in the future). What was yours like?
Reading is a basic tool in the living of a good life.
The trilogy is finished! Since there is a holds list, I made sure to give priority reading to this Kindle book.
A war of magic, of heightened djinn power against half-human djinns. With war comes times of failed and successful strategy, of sacrifices, and of the unknown. While I wasn’t blown away by this series, I solidly liked it because I was taken away to desert lands. It’s a different setting from most of the urban fantasy I’ve read in the past.
I would definitely reread this series in a year or two. Three stars.
I was curious about this book mostly because the cover was attractive to me and I wanted to know what the main female was. The story was okay. It’s supposed to be steampunk, romance, and YA. I definitely saw these elements in it. The plot is simple and has moments of prejudice, of naiveté, of adventure, and of action. I feel this read is more of a YA book for teenagers than for someone like me and my particular expectations of the fantasy genre.
Two stars.
Okay, I’m off to finish my slice of Chantilly cake from Whole Foods. Thanks for poppin’ in. Have a good evening and TTYS. Bye.
Happy birthday! Hope you’ve had a fabulous weekend and cake sounds good. 🙂

That is a bummer about The Peculiars – that cover is awesome.

Just reading all you did this week made me tired. I really liked Hero at the Fall too and agreed that it is a re-readable series. I don’t re-read much YA. My favorites for re-reading are from my adult stack. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
