Charity Drive, FO Socks

2 Charity Drive

Hello! I am wide awake despite last night’s so-so sleep session. I guess I can chalk it up to endorphins from this morning’s cardio and weights workouts + a couple of cups of tea?

I have a damn, cute FO to show you today that was just finished minutes ago while watching clips from Stephen Colbert’s show. Itty Bitty Knits’ March Charity is baby items for blessing bags for new mums in the upper Wisconsin area.

I’ve always wanted to knit this pattern, Baby Hug Boots, by Marianna Mel. On its Ravelry project page, the link takes you to her blog post which lays out the pattern in full instructions. Her way of knitting them up has you knit them flat and then seaming. Luckily, a clever knitter (MingleYarns) had helpful notes to enable others to knit this project in the round.

I used two circulars, wanting to knit TAAT, but found it fiddly since I’ve never knit this pattern before and since the cast on is toe up. I used Judy’s Magic Cast On. I even had watched at least five, other videos to make sure the order of needles to be knit was right as it seemed the opposite of what I had learned in Patty’s class for cuff down tubes.

I therefore knit one at a time. I had fallen in love with the two-toned pairs in the pattern’s project gallery so I bought more Loops & Threads Joy DK in more colors from Michael’s, having had Snow (white) already. The mint color is simply Mint. I used Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off so these would be easy to stretch out and to put on the baby’s feet.

I’m waiting to see when Pat wants everything by. I’d like to knit at least one more pair in Cloud, a light gray. There were six ends to weave in in each bootie of this pair. You know how we, knitters, are about weavin in ends, LOL. I hope to try TAAT for the next pair.

I hope this post brought a smile to your face. I find these baby booties totally cute. And can I add how good it feels to have created something handmade for a charity drive? *fist pump* Thank you for droppin by. TTYS.

    1. LOL; I hope you’re able to pass down those too small booties. My firstborn had a few pairs from Babies R Us and I still have them; their teeny tiny sizes are so damn cute.

  1. Oh those booties are SO CUTE!!! Congratulations on giving your time and wonderful craft to charity! By the way, I’m nearly finished knitting my little purse. I’m going to do the felting next week I think and depending on how it goes, maybe a nice little lining! I’ll keep you up to date!!! 🙂 xx
