I’m linking up with It’s Monday! What are you reading? hosted by Kathryn of The Book Date later on today. Kathryn took over this weekly, Monday meme from Shelia of Book Journey who had taken it over from J Kayne Book Blog. This meme is not just about adult books either. If you read picture and chapter books, juvenile fiction, or even YA, they count as well. Jen Vincent of Teach Mentor Texts and Kellee of Unleashing Readers give this Monday, book post link up a kid-focus.
Well, aloha. I am countin down til spring break which will start this Good Friday. I am looking forward to sleeping in and schleppin about with the dames.
I’m finally ridin on the Game of Thrones train. On and off I’ve been watching Daenerys videos. After watching her best scenes and watching the actresses talk about the histories their characters (Daenerys, Arya, Sansa, and Cersei), I told my husband I needed to watch the series. So he picked up the HBO channel and we started this weekend; he’s already seen everything and started watching the current season last night, laughing out loud and yelling with his headphones on. So I guess I need to start watching GOT while knitting away during the day.
“Books were faithful and reliable. You could pack them up and put them in a box, run your hands over the spines, flip through their pages full of memories. They always came with you, wherever you went.”
Vixen in Velvet (The Dressmakers #3) by Loretta Chase
I really enjoyed this series. I loved how the sisters were underdogs. These women knew themselves and had confidence in their abilities. I loved how they did anything for their shop.
Each book focuses on each sister. The chemistry between Leonie and Simon was entertaining. I liked their banter and interactions. Four stars.
Magic and Macaroons (A Magical Bakery Mystery #5) by Bailey Cates
This book was one of the most interesting installments. The magical content was riveting. Personally, I don’t know much about voodoo. I liked how this book got into the basics of it. It was an exciting journey into this subject matter and how it related to the plot. Good climax and fitting overall. Four stars.
Spells and Scones (A Magical Bakery Mystery #6) by Bailey Cates
This sixth book furthers Katie and Declan’s relationship. The magical elements and connection to their world was more of a parallel one so I felt the plot wasn’t as strong as the last book. I figured out who the killer was before it was announced. The climax was underwhelming. Three stars.
Unfortunately, my library only has up to this book in this series. I hope they buy more.
I’m happy to report I’m doing very well on my reading challenges this year. Reading in the car before pick up has been my go-to. It is also enjoyable to listen to an audiobook while knitting.
Well, I’m off to knit and watch season one of GOT. Are you a Game of Thrones fan? Have you read the books? I will probably pass on the books for this series.
I hope you’re having a good Monday. Happy reading to you. TTYS.
