Hello. Last week I sent off a belated birthday card to my youngest aunt.
Background
- burlap collaged onto white cardstock and painted over with gesso
Layers
- scored cardstock in a brick pattern, colored with Distress Oxide Aged Mahogany & hand ripped
- Tim Holtz Woodgrain stencil with Ranger Ink Texture Paste colored in Gathered Twigs
- sentiment = Momenta wood-mounted stamp
3-D Parts
Flowers
- all flowers stamped in Distress Oxides Aged Mahogany, Peeled Paint, & Wilted Violet (This color palette was inspired by Pinterest.)
- flowers from Stampendous Agapanthus Thanks & Stampin Up Petite Petals
- fussy cut out
Butterflies
- stamped in Versamark
- embossed in Stampin Up gold
- fussy cut out
Each flower and butterfly were mounted with either foam tape or a foam circle.
This card ended up weighing a little over an ounce so I had to put two stamps on its envelope. My aunt texted me once she had checked her mail and told me she loved it.
I actually had a written plan for this card’s layout and did forget to do a few things, but overall, I’m very happy with it. I’m working towards creating this kind of mixed media aesthetic; it’s my dream to have that kind of output. I still have a ways to go as I’d like to mix in metals and more textures into my work.
GTG. Time for class soon. Have a good Hump Day. TTYS.
Your cards amaze me!
