Greetings. What have you been up to today?
I have a pikake candle lit in memory of my Aunty J. She was the third daughter on my mom’s side. We lost her nine years, five and a half months ago, the spring when my junior was a first grader. Pikake was my aunt’s favorite, Hawaiian scent. This flower is usually made into leis.

Any of you follow Stitching the High Notes?

Along with the host of Once Upon a Corgi, Joanna is hosting this year’s Pumpkin MAL. I decided to join in because I really wanted to knit more with this Sweet Georgia Tough Love Sock in Pumpkin. I’ve been using this color as a toe or heel in other sock WIP’s.
To be honest, I tried participating in their MAL one year but as usual failed miserably and ended up dropping out. In general, I’m bad with KAL’s and MALS’s.
This time I decided to incorporate a sock knitting pattern that I’ve been wanting to knit – Hermione’s Everyday Socks by Erica Lueder. It’s a popular and free pattern; over 30K have been knitted. In actuality, I think I may have knitted this pattern before but the socks were frogged because they had come out too big.
You can see I’m using Brenda Vanlerberghe’s Basic Toe Up pattern as usual. This time is just for the toes and gussets. I’m hoping with the heels I can use the Eye of Partridge heel from Leuder’s pattern.
Well, the husband is telling me it’s naptime. I didn’t sleep well last night. Probably didn’t help I had taken a later nap Friday – oh well. Off to dreamland. Thanks for poppin in. TTYS.
I am a complete failure at knit a longs, COMPLETE. As soon as I have pressure, I’m done. Even if it was my daughter and pal Karen. I just can’t do it! Good for you! And take your nap!!

Love the socks! At least you have tried the โALsโ, I havenโt yet, maybe one day…

๐ I hope you do try one one day. I think I’ve only successfully completed one sock KAL and it was a lace pattern I had knitted. Cookie A has great designs. I want to knit her Monkey socks again but maybe the no purls version.

HES is one of my favorite patterns for socks. Love your pumpkin colored yarn for it. Naps are very important. My hubby takes 2 or 3 a day lol. I usually grab a 20 minute one a few times a week.

Naps always mess me up sleeping wise but sometimes that’s so worth it! I love the candle and can just imagine it smells lovely. And I love that color orange. I’ve been thinking about learning to knit lately. I’ve always wanted to learn but then someone sent Will a knitted prayer square recently and it was such a sweet concept and he’s really enjoyed having it. Hope you have a great week.

How lovely, a knitted prayer square. That is the first I’ve heard of that. I have seen prayer shawls.

I don’t know what a pikake candle smells like, (I read it first as pickle…eep!). Fall is abundant here and I am loving it immensely!!

YAY for the coming fall. Pikake is considered a Hawaiian jasmine. “The tiny flower is sweet smelling and delicious, yet spicy.” (from Google)

That lovely that you lit a candle for your aunt.
How do I get in on some of that nap time.. I barely take like 3 naps a year. ๐ฆ

If I could energize you over so you could nap in peace, I’d do it.
