Cross Stitch XV: Another Way

Happy Lunar New Year

Gung Hay Fat Choy. May the Year of the Ox bring you good health, prosperity, and happiness. Friday was a relaxing day for the four of us since the house was clean. The husband watched Netflix, our daughters played Roblox on their laptops, and I started sewing again.

I made bibimbap in mostly Asian flavors. I loosely followed a Chinese BBQ sauce with what we had and added in a few ingredients. I seasoned boneless chicken thighs with it while making brown and white rice in their respective pots. Bok choy, spinach, and mushrooms were separately sauteed in a pan and drizzled with sesame oil. Then all of these ingredients were placed in sections on plates for consumption.

The 14th

Happy Valentine’s Day to those of you who celebrate. E and I don’t do anything special; however, I did cook some tender, juicy rib eyes today with baked potatoes and boiled corn on the cob. Every bit was devoured of course.

Stitching

So I ran into trouble with my current sewing project Friday. I needed a mental break from it and because I had taken a late nap Saturday, I decided to try to cross stitch again. Here you see the pillows I used to support my elbows.

I am trying to stitch without the 10″ hoop, holding the soft and dyed Aida fabric in my hands. Also, I’m using both hands to work the needle and thread, left for underneath and right for on top.

Once Upon a Time Sampler by The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery

Here’s the progress I have as of last night. This is most of the border of the first square.

a close up

This design makes me smile. I’m slowly taking my time and trying to remind myself to relax, besides take the time to stretch now and then. I am wearing my compression sleeves and gloves as well.

I hope you are having a nice day. Thank you for your virtual hugs in the past, two posts. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday. TTYS.

  1. I so wish your tendonitis would stop bothering you. Is there anything that can be done for it? Physical therapy? Do you have a hoop on a stand you sit on? Would it not work for this cross stitch? Or is the project too small for it?

    1. I did look at one of those stands. I had a double hoop but it sits in my lap and I balanced my magnifying light clamped onto it. I will have to see the doctor. I’ve been putting it off because of Covid-19.

  2. Stef,

I may get some compression gloves. How much do they help you? ? I I have not gone to the orthopd because of Covid. But my right hand falls to tingling sometimes first thing in the a.m. when I get up, (there are days I cannot button my shirt) and on my left hand I have a trigger finger that acts up every day. Do you have a definitive diagnosis? Where did you buy them? Thanks
